"Alan Callow was central to the large cost reduction in Brent field platform well services operations"During almost 20 years with the Royal Air Force, Alan was promoted to the post of senior general and operations manager within the Fighter Control branch. Between 1993 and 2001 he was appointed to the Management Board of a number of Royal Air Force Units and was Officer Commanding the Falkland Islands Air Defence Ground Systems in 1998/9. These roles have provided him with considerable experience in leadership, training and development, project management, team-building and performance improvement. He successfully managed projects to the value of £50 million and had responsibility for cash budgets up to £13 million and assets in excess of £30 million.
Alan spent time as the RAF’s principle trainer and examiner for a number of senior Fighter Control positions. In 1999 he was responsible for co-ordinating the RAF’s Y2K planning with the Grampian Emergency Services Planning Committee and continued to chair a joint emergency planning committee until retirement from the RAF in December 2001.
Alan gained his MBA, from the Open University on the day he left the RAF. Using his previous experience as guidance, Alan became a management consultant specialising in delivering improved operational and contingency planning to clients in the UK oil and gas sector.

In addition, Alan has maintained his training skills, acquired in the RAF, by becoming a lecturer on Aberdeen University’s MSc course in Project Management. Alan is a former Member of the Institute of Management Consultants and the Chartered Management Institute, he is an affiliate member of the Energy Institute. Alan completed an MSc in International Finance and Management in October 2009.
