Congratulations to Alan Callow who has just been awarded an MSc in International Finance and Management from the Open University.  This MSc is intended to build competencies to equip people working in the finance and financial reporting functions of companies to perform senior management roles in an international context.

Having completed Strategy and Financial Strategy, Alan has spent the last year on the final 2 modules of the course covering managing international resource allocation and investment - externally via the capital markets and lending institutions, and internally within the organisation.

With regard to external finance and investment the course included organisational investment in the context of the global economy and the economic, political, regulatory and corporate governance aspects of investment. With regard to internal finance and investment it covered the allocation and management of finance in multi-national companies.

Also covered were issues around international financial reporting such as Fair Value; IASB and FASB organisation, governance and operation.  Best practice Corporate Governance was a significant part of the course.
