Presentation on the role
of Project Coordinator for Performance Improvement in Subsea
Projects
Ray Hall recently gave this presentation to invited
members of the Energy Institute at the Marcliffe Hotel, Pitfoddels.

The theme was the role of the Project
Coordinator in driving
performance improvement across a diverse range of people, processes
within the application of Technical Limit thinking.
The Project Coordinator role is a new take on an old idea. Examples
such as
NHS (Doctors to Paramedics),
Legal (Solicitors to Paralegals),
Military (Commanding Officer to Chief of Staff) were mentioned, and it
was explained how and why the same principle can be applied to Projects
(Project Manager to Project Coordinator).

Our own real world examples
were quoted (see our case study for an individual example). Wider
Technical Limit examples were also covered, including areas such
as world records in competitive sport,
zero defects in a delivered vehicle,
no injuries,
Formula 1 pit stops,
147 breaks in snooker, and faultless removal of loose insulation
between tiles on the space shuttle.
The presentation was attended by a wide range of
people involved within the energy sector, was warmly received and
stimulated a very interesting debate during question
time. It was also gratifying to see many under graduate students
at the event, many of whom will be pursuing careers within this
sector in the future.

can free up valuable resources can be found here.
